A significant Democratic performance in the midterm elections has reshaped the US political landscape, with several highly contested races still awaiting final results. In Alaska, the Senate race between Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan and Democratic challenger Mary Peltola is exceptionally tight, with Peltola currently holding a narrow lead of 626 votes. Should neither candidate secure over 50 percent of the vote, Alaska's law mandates a ranked-choice voting system to determine the winner. Meanwhile, the Alaska gubernatorial race sees Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins in a close contest with Republican Bernadette Wilson. Kreiss-Tomkins has garnered 49.2 percent of the vote with approximately 74 percent of ballots counted.

In Kansas, the gubernatorial race is also fiercely contested, as Democrat Cindy Holscher maintains a lead of less than one percentage point over Republican Ty Masterson. Holscher's advantage stands at 5,557 votes, with an estimated 98 percent of the votes tallied. The Mississippi Senate race features Democratic candidate Scott Colom in a nail-biting contest against Republican incumbent Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. Colom leads by a mere 43 votes, with 96 percent of the votes counted. In Los Angeles, the mayoral race is a close battle between incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and Nithya Raman, who has the backing of the Democratic Socialists of America. Bass currently holds 48.9 percent of the vote, while Raman has 51.1 percent, with roughly one-third of the ballots yet to be counted.
