Dubai's Emirates airline has reported a profit after tax of Dh3.3 billion ($903 million) for the first half of its fiscal year, marking a 66 percent decrease year-on-year. This decline is attributed to regional disruptions, including the Iran war, and increased fuel costs. Revenue for the six months ending September 30 also saw a 13 percent annual drop, reaching Dh56.9 billion, according to the airline's statement on Thursday. The airline's fiscal year concludes in March.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, chairman and chief executive of Emirates airline and group, stated, “It has been a demanding six months, and once again, our business model and our people stood up to the test. We’ve weathered challenges before, and with our strong cash position and solid foundation built up over the years, the Group is well-placed to navigate the headwinds of volatility and high fuel prices.”

Emirates highlighted that its revenue performance was bolstered by sustained travel demand across its markets, particularly in its premium cabins, and a significant contribution from its cargo operations. The airline, recognized as one of the world's largest by international passenger traffic, transported 21.8 million passengers between April 1 and September 30, a 22 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

Despite the challenges posed by the Iran war and elevated fuel expenses, the Emirates Group achieved a six-month profit after tax of Dh3.6 billion. Revenue for this period amounted to Dh66.2 billion. Sheikh Ahmed further commented on X, “The Emirates Group has reported a profit for the first six months of 2026-27 despite regional challenges and high fuel costs. Its half-year performance illustrates the resilience of the Group’s business model, and the capabilities of its people.”
