Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has lauded the significant contributions of ADNOC to the global energy security system. His praise stems from the company's consistent investments and its strategic focus on leveraging advanced technologies. Sheikh Khaled made these remarks while presiding over a meeting of ADNOC's executive committee, as reported by the state news agency Wam on Thursday.
He highlighted that ADNOC, a cornerstone of the UAE's economy, has continuously improved its operational efficiency and maintained adaptable supply chains. These concerted efforts, Sheikh Khaled noted, have empowered ADNOC to strengthen its international standing. The company remains committed to enhancing its value chain resilience to ensure the uninterrupted supply of energy and to meet the escalating global demand.
During the recent Adipec conference, which concluded on Thursday, ADNOC, in collaboration with the UAE's G42, entered into an agreement with the technology major OpenAI. This landmark deal positions ADNOC as the inaugural energy company to utilize OpenAI’s Frontier platform, signaling a significant expansion of AI integration across its operations.
The executive committee meeting also provided an update on ADNOC's performance for the first ten months of 2026, detailing progress on ongoing projects and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the results of the second 'Make It With ADNOC' forum were reviewed. At this forum, held on October 25, the company announced local manufacturing opportunities valued at over Dh60 billion ($16.3 billion) through to 2030. The forum also introduced substantial enhancements to procurement systems, supplier registration processes, and the National Content Enhancement Programme.
Sheikh Khaled emphasized the critical importance of supporting national industries, cultivating local expertise, and fostering the localization of advanced industries. He stated that these initiatives are instrumental in advancing the UAE's economic diversification objectives. He further underscored the significance of empowering Emirati talent, asserting that supporting their innovations and providing them with quality employment opportunities in the private sector are fundamental to building a competitive, knowledge-based, and innovation-driven national economy.
The four-day Adipec event convened industry leaders, ministers, and investors in Abu Dhabi amidst prevailing concerns regarding energy security and potential global supply disruptions. The conference showcased a wide array of energy companies, including BP, Shell, TotalEnergies, Eni, ExxonMobil, Chevron, and Occidental Petroleum, alongside technology and industrial giants like Siemens, IBM, and Microsoft. Artificial intelligence was a central theme throughout the discussions, with topics such as energy security, electricity demand, and the financing of new infrastructure being thoroughly explored.
Reflecting on the key outcomes of Adipec, Sheikh Khaled reiterated the event's value as a global forum for fostering dialogue and collaboration among energy sector leaders, policymakers, and investors. He noted that Adipec offers a unique platform for exchanging insights, sharing experiences, and developing innovative solutions that bolster energy security and sustainability, thereby aligning with the demands of economic growth.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and managing director and group chief executive of ADNOC; Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention; Khaldoon Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and managing director and group chief executive of Mubadala Investment Company; and Jassem Al Zaabi, chairman of Abu Dhabi's Department of Finance.
