Dubai Municipality has officially opened registration for its highly anticipated winter market, an annual event designed to provide a platform for local entrepreneurs and families to showcase and sell their products. Now in its fifth season, the 'Souk Al Freej' initiative will feature 50 stalls spread across three public parks in the emirate. Ten of these stalls will be dedicated to activities and food and beverage services, offering a diverse range of experiences for visitors.
This market serves as a vital opportunity for small businesses to connect with customers and promote their locally made products. The event will take place at Nad Al Sheba Rose Garden from December 11 to 20. Following this, it will move to Al Barsha Pond Park from December 25 to January 3, 2027, and conclude at Al Warqa Park from January 8 to 17.
Visitors can explore the market daily between 4:30 PM and 10:00 PM. Participating businesses will have the chance to display a variety of items, including home-made food, handicrafts, fashion, and sustainable goods. In a move to support local talent, the stalls will be provided free of charge, enabling entrepreneurs to build customer relationships, gain exposure, and discover new business avenues.
This year's Souk Al Freej introduces several exciting new attractions, including an 'Asian Village Experience' complete with themed designs, international food offerings, and cultural activities. A dedicated zone for Gen Z visitors, free-play areas for children, and creative workshops are also part of the expanded offerings. Attendees can also look forward to a zipline and an interactive treasure hunt, enhancing the market's appeal to families and younger demographics by blending shopping with entertainment and cultural immersion.
Mohammed Abdulrahman Ahli, director of the Public Parks and Recreational Facilities Department at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the market's growth into a significant community hub for supporting local entrepreneurs and productive families. He stated, 'The initiative gives small businesses the opportunity to present their products directly to consumers in an organised retail environment, while helping raise awareness of locally made goods.' Mr. Ahli further emphasized the municipality's commitment to enhancing public parks as versatile destinations for all age groups, integrating recreational activities, cultural experiences, and business opportunities.
The previous edition of the market drew an impressive 308,842 visitors, underscoring its increasing popularity. Dubai Municipality confirmed that this initiative aligns with broader efforts to invigorate public parks as vibrant neighbourhood spaces during the cooler winter months, fostering social interaction and bolstering the emirate's small-business sector.
