Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has extended his warmest Diwali greetings to all those celebrating the festival in the UAE and across the globe. In a message shared on X, Sheikh Mohammed wished for the festival of lights to bring peace, hope, and goodness, along with safety, happiness, and prosperity to all. Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is a major Hindu celebration observed by millions worldwide, particularly in India and Nepal. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. The festival's timing, which falls around the new moon in early autumn according to the Hindu lunar calendar, causes its date to vary annually. Traditionally, Diwali involves families decorating their homes with rangoli and flowers, and lighting diyas, which are traditional oil lamps. Festivities also include gatherings of friends and relatives in their best attire for prayers, exchanging gifts, and enjoying festive meals.

In the UAE, Diwali is celebrated in various settings, including homes, temples, and public spaces, reflecting the nation's multicultural fabric and its embrace of diverse religious festivities. The Baps Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is hosting a series of religious ceremonies and activities from November 6 to 10, in anticipation of welcoming visitors for the festival. The temple's schedule includes a cultural program on Saturday at 5pm, followed by a worship service for devotees on Sunday at 6:30pm. Dubai's Global Village is also marking Diwali with five days of events from November 6 to 10, offering a range of cultural performances, family activities, shopping opportunities, and entertainment. A special highlight will be a drone show on November 8 at 8pm, where 600 drones will create Festival of Lights-themed displays in the sky above the Stunt Arena and Syria Pavilion. Meanwhile, BurJuman Mall's 'Khushiyon Se Bhari Diwali' celebrations are ongoing until November 12, featuring festive workshops, musical baithaks, and other festival-inspired activities. Dubai Parks and Resorts is hosting Diwali festivities at Riverland Dubai from November 6 to 8, with its 'Diwali Dhamaka' program including live music and dance at Royal Plaza, vibrant decorations, and Indian street food from Yalla Bombay and Chaat and Chai food trucks.
