Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White has confirmed he will meet with US President Donald Trump to discuss an offer for the position of White House press secretary. White made the announcement at a press conference in London following a boxing event on Saturday. He stated that the meeting with Trump is scheduled for Monday at the White House.
Earlier on Saturday, Trump posted on Truth Social, expressing his confidence in White for the role, writing, “Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other.” He urged White to accept the position, adding, “Dana, please take the job!” Trump also commented, “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left.”
The White House press secretary role has been vacant since Katie Zacharia's departure last month, which followed a brief five-day tenure. Zacharia had succeeded Karoline Leavitt, who stepped down at the end of August.
White and Trump have a history dating back to the early 2000s, with their relationship strengthening after White publicly endorsed Trump's presidential campaign in 2016. Trump has attended numerous UFC events in recent years, and in June, the White House hosted a UFC event as part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of US independence.
The White House press office already includes Steven Cheung, a former UFC spokesperson who worked for the organization from 2013 to 2016. Cheung shared Trump's message on X, encouraging White to accept the offer by saying, “Hell yeah! Do it, @DanaWhite! It’ll just be like old times!”
