Abu Dhabi Municipality has officially reopened all public parks, recreational facilities, and municipal beaches following a temporary closure initiated on Friday evening in anticipation of adverse weather conditions across the emirate.

The authority explained that the initial shutdown served as a precautionary measure to safeguard the public as heavy rain and unstable weather impacted parts of Abu Dhabi. Earlier, the National Centre of Meteorology had issued a yellow weather warning for regions south and east of Abu Dhabi city, forecasting dust storms, high winds, rain, and thunder. Authorities noted that a strengthening El Nino further increases the likelihood of prolonged extreme weather.

Additionally, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence utilized X to urge community members to remain vigilant during the rainfall and to steer clear of wadis and water pools. Unsettled weather is anticipated to persist through the weekend in certain areas of the country, with temperatures hovering in the low 40s, alongside potential morning fog or mist in coastal zones.

In response to the conditions, drivers received strict advisories to adhere to temporary speed limits, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and steer clear of waterlogged areas resulting from the heavy rain.
