The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), founded by Abhijeet Dipke, aims to re-establish a culture of accountability within the Indian government. What began as online political satire has evolved into a significant force advocating for political and social change. The CJP emerged forcefully in May, rallying thousands of young individuals to protest against issues such as exam paper leaks, unemployment, and the escalating cost of living. Following these protests, the education minister resigned. The movement has now shifted its focus to the chief election commissioner, demanding his removal. Both opposition parties and the CJP allege that India's electoral body has manipulated voter lists to favor Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The commission refutes these claims, stating its actions were to remove deceased, duplicate, and ineligible voters. The BJP, in turn, has accused the demonstrators of creating chaos and attempting to destabilize democracy. Dipke denies these accusations, asserting that the CJP's objective is to foster a better India with improved education, increased job opportunities, free and fair elections, and a government that actively listens to its youth. He acknowledges the challenges ahead, noting that several CJP leaders, including himself, have faced arrest. Despite these obstacles, Dipke remains resolute that the movement will not be deterred.
