Egypt successfully exported 4,370 food shipments totaling 208,000 tons between August 15 and 21, 2026, according to a Sunday announcement by the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA). The shipments were managed by 1,410 exporting companies and encompassed approximately 758 distinct food products.

In its 31st weekly report for 2026, the authority detailed that the exports featured a wide range of goods, including vegetables, tubers, fruits, preserved fruit and vegetable products, flour, and grain items. Vegetable exports alone reached 50,000 tons across 45 varieties, led by sweet potatoes at 20,000 tons, followed by onions at 10,000 tons and potatoes at 5,000 tons.

Meanwhile, fruit exports hit 36,000 tons spanning 34 varieties, spearheaded by strawberries at 13,000 tons, citrus fruits at 7,000 tons, and mangoes at 6,000 tons. Out of 182 destination countries, Tunisia emerged as the largest importer of Egyptian food products for the week, trailed by Italy, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands. Alexandria Port handled the highest number of food export consignments with 740 shipments, followed by Safaga Port with 703 and Damietta Port with 630.

On the import side, Egypt brought in 1,917 food consignments totaling approximately 220,000 tons through 858 importing companies, which included vital commodities like wheat, soybeans, and various oils. Russia led the nations supplying food to Egypt, followed by Indonesia, the United States, Australia, and China among a total of 84 exporting countries. Alexandria Port also led in import consignments with 679 shipments, followed by Cairo International Airport with 381 and Port Said Port with 220.
