Brazil midfielder Fabinho has signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor, according to an announcement by the Turkish Super Lig football side, marking a reunion with former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah. A filing on the Turkish stock exchange on Monday indicated the 32-year-old midfielder will earn a 2.6-million-euro guaranteed salary alongside a 1.4-million-euro signing bonus per season.
Trabzonspor shared on X that an agreement had been secured for a two-year deal with Fabinho, who was a free agent. Fabinho previously moved to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia in 2023, securing the domestic league title following a five-year tenure at Liverpool.
Upon arriving at Trabzon airport on Monday, Fabinho expressed excitement about playing alongside Salah again, noting their five years together at Liverpool and his deep respect for Salah's career achievements. Hoping to recreate their past partnership with the 34-year-old Salah, Fabinho stated his intention to contribute his experience, leadership, and best abilities to assist his teammates.
During his time at Liverpool, Fabinho appeared in 219 matches, contributing to triumphs in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. Egypt forward Salah had earlier signed with Trabzonspor as a free agent this month. Last season, Trabzonspor placed third in the Turkish top flight and are preparing to face Ferencvaros of Hungary on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League playoff tie, currently facing a 1-0 deficit.
