Tijjani Reijnders is on the verge of becoming the latest high-profile arrival in the Saudi Pro League, as the Manchester City midfielder closes in on a transfer to Al Qadsiah. Brendan Rodgers' club has agreed to a reported £52 million fee to bring the Netherlands international to Khobar, situated in Saudi Arabia's eastern region.

City acquired the 28-year-old from AC Milan just last summer. However, the club has already brought in Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million, while an £85m agreement to sign Morocco international Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille nears completion. Additionally, Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez has been targeted by City as another midfield option.

City previously parted ways with veteran Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer following his move to Real Madrid, and Spain captain Rodri has also attracted interest from Real Madrid. Although Reijnders started his City career brightly, he found it difficult to make a major impact during what became Pep Guardiola's final season at the club, netting seven goals across 47 appearances. He contributed to League Cup and FA Cup victories, though City finished behind Arsenal as runners-up in the Premier League.

Reijnders has been training away from City's primary squad under new coach Enzo Maresca ahead of the prospective switch to Saudi Arabia. Internationally, Reijnders featured for the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup, playing in three matches during the competition. He started group stage fixtures against Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia, but sat out the last-32 defeat to Morocco, which the Dutch lost via a penalty shootout.

Al Qadsiah mounted a strong challenge for the Saudi Pro League title last season before fading slightly to secure an impressive fourth-place finish. Brendan Rodgers' squad commenced their new campaign on Thursday with a 3-1 victory over Al Shabab. Finalizing the deal for Reijnders would mark the Pro League's second major acquisition from the Premier League during this transfer window, following Al Hilal's signing of Reijnders' Dutch teammate Crysencio Summerville for €64.5 million last month. The Saudi Pro League transfer window is set to shut on September 6.
