Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, stated that Iran's recent attacks on Gulf Arab states have only worsened its predicament following the introduction of sweeping new sanctions by the US against Tehran.

Highlighting the failure of Iran's attempts to control the Strait of Hormuz and target Gulf nations, Dr Gargash emphasized that the moment has arrived to pursue a political solution.

Writing on X, Dr Gargash noted that as the confrontation between the US and Iran shifts into a fresh phase defined by heightened economic pressure and the failure to dominate the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's aggression against Arab Gulf states ultimately missed its mark.

He described these actions as a serious strategic miscalculation that further isolated Tehran and weakened its standing, urging that de-escalation must be achieved through collaboration with Gulf Arab states to discover a political resolution.

The US Treasury Department announced an expansion of secondary sanctions targeting companies and countries engaging in business with Iran, providing nations with a deadline to terminate Iran-related activities and sever economic ties.

This development follows the UAE's announcement last week to cut off trade and financial connections with Tehran. The Emirates have faced recurring Iranian missile and drone strikes since the US-Israel war on Iran commenced on February 28, resulting in at least a dozen fatalities and over 200 injuries within the country, including attacks on Adnoc-owned ships.
