Qatar’s Cabinet has approved draft legislation on real estate tokenisation, updated the Official Gazette system, and reviewed preparations for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year during its regular session at the Amiri Diwan.
Chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Cabinet meeting covered significant legislative and educational updates. Ministers were briefed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education on completed preparations for the 2026-2027 school year, praising the expansion of new schools in densely populated areas built to international standards.
In legislative developments, the Cabinet approved a draft bill regulating real estate tokenisation and trading, prepared collaboratively by the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Municipality, Qatar Central Bank, the Qatar Financial Markets Authority, and the General Real Estate Regulatory Authority. The bill aims to diversify investment products and connect directly to the Real Estate Registry to protect investors. The draft bill will be posted on the “Sharek” platform for public feedback.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft bill amending Law No. (12) of 2016 concerning the Official Gazette for electronic publication, alongside a National Archives of Qatar proposal regarding document management at government entities. Ministers also greenlit a financial cooperation MoU between Qatar and Kuwait and a MENAFATF amendment to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
The session concluded with reviews of official reports, including updates from the Qatar Financial Markets Authority Appeals Committee, the “No Money for Terror” conference, the G7-GCC finance ministers meeting, the Qatar-Bangladesh Joint Committee on Labor Affairs, and the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
