Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has remained tight-lipped about Rodri’s future amid intense speculation linking the Spain midfielder with a move to Barcelona, stating that "anything can happen" before the transfer window shuts.

The uncertainty escalated after a viral social media photo appeared to show Rodri traveling on a budget Ryanair flight from Madrid to Liverpool, with the former Ballon d’Or winner carrying a personalized suitcase featuring his name, national team flag, and squad number. Despite the buzz surrounding the Madrid flight, sources indicate that Real Madrid have cooled their pursuit due to the hefty financial demands of the transfer.

Addressing reporters on Friday ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield clash against Arsenal in Cardiff, Maresca said, "First of all, we already said the transfer window is open, we can buy and sell players, anything can happen." He added, "I’ve just seen Rodri now in the building, I gave him a big hug, he looks good, so we’ll see what happens."

Maresca also confirmed that the World Cup winner has recovered from back surgery undergone in late July and is cleared to resume training. When questioned about potential incomings or outgoings, the manager maintained that his full concentration remains on Sunday's final rather than the ongoing transfer rumors.

Refuting the notion that the Community Shield is merely a friendly, Maresca emphasized his determination to secure his first piece of silverware since taking charge at Manchester City following the departure of Pep Guardiola.
