Tragic Head-On Crash in Ismailia Leaves 18 Dead and 29 Injured as Police Detain Drivers

Ismailia security authorities have placed the drivers of two pickup trucks under police guard following a devastating collision in the El-Dawawis area, near El-Qassasin. According to Youm7, the tragic accident resulted in 18 deaths and 29 injuries, predominantly affecting agricultural workers.

Both drivers, who also work as labor transport contractors, sustained injuries in the crash and are currently receiving medical treatment. They were operating the two vehicles at the time of the impact. Security forces have stationed guards at the local hospitals where the men are recovering, ahead of formal investigations and subsequent legal proceedings.

The disaster occurred when the two pickup trucks carrying farm laborers collided head-on in El-Dawawis. Fleet ambulances rapidly deployed to the scene to transport the 29 injured passengers to Ismailia hospitals, while the remains of the 18 deceased workers were taken to New El-Qassasin Hospital.

Security and executive officials promptly secured the crash site to clear traffic, while local authorities oversaw medical treatment for the survivors and coordinated the release of the victims’ bodies to their families.
