According to Nepal's disaster authority, the death toll from last week’s catastrophic flooding along the Nepal-China border region reached 903 on Monday, up from 788 previously recorded, while the death toll in China stood at 16 as of Sunday.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reported in its latest update that the number of missing people in Nepal climbed sharply to 4,247, which includes 592 foreign nationals. This marks a dramatic increase from Sunday's figures, when 2,502 individuals were reported unaccounted for. Meanwhile, Chinese authorities noted on Sunday that 546 people remained missing.
Across both sides of the border, the combined disaster toll has reached 919 deaths and 4,793 missing individuals. Despite the grim statistics, emergency workers in Nepal have successfully rescued 10,451 people, as confirmed in the update released on Monday.
