Lionel Messi Confirms International Retirement: 'This Is the Right Moment'

Argentina legend Lionel Messi has officially announced his retirement from international football at the age of 39. According to Messi, he originally made the choice two days following Argentina's defeat against Spain in July's World Cup final, and stated he became "even more convinced of this decision" subsequent to the recent loss of his father.

Throughout his career, Messi made 207 appearances for his country, netting 125 goals, securing one World Cup title, and capturing two Copa America crowns. Recently hailed as 'footballing beauty' after scoring four goals for Inter Miami, the star forward reflected on his departure in a statement.

"It was a decision that hurt and still hurts deep inside, but I understand that this is the right moment," he expressed. More updates are expected to follow.
