Spain international Ferran Torres, who scored the decisive goal in last month’s World Cup final, has officially signed for Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in a deal reportedly worth 50 million euros ($58m). The 26-year-old striker is contracted with the Ligue 1 champions until 2031.
“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce it has secured the services of Ferran Torres,” the club stated on Saturday. Torres expressed his excitement about beginning a new chapter, thanking President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique for the opportunity.
Torres previously played under Luis Enrique with the Spain national team. During his time at Barcelona, the former Valencia and Manchester City forward won three La Liga titles, scoring 65 goals in 207 appearances. His recent heroics include scoring in extra-time during the World Cup final to defeat Argentina.
Barcelona thanked Torres for his dedication over the past four and a half seasons. Meanwhile, his arrival in Paris could potentially impact Liverpool's pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola.
