Shaukat Aftab was away from the UAE when a life-changing phone call arrived, bringing a mix of shock and delight. Representatives from the Big Ticket raffle confirmed that the Pakistani national secured the Dh15 million ($4,084,411) grand prize during the September draw.
“When I received the winning call, I was initially confused because I am currently travelling,” said Mr Aftab, 64. “I am very happy and want to thank Big Ticket for this opportunity. I encourage everyone to try their luck.” He plans to invest his winnings wisely, help others in need, and continue entering the draw in the future.
In another turn of fortune, Indian businessman Ravindranathan Vinesh also received a surprise call regarding a prize, which he initially suspected was a scam. After his son verified the announcement by watching the live draw on YouTube, the 55-year-old was still in disbelief before realizing he had won a Land Rover Defender. The accountant from Kerala, who has resided in Sharjah for nearly three decades, purchases a ticket monthly, occasionally splitting the cost with friends.
“When I received the winning call, I was confused because I often get promotional calls that appear to be from Big Ticket, but this time it was real,” he noted. Mr Vinesh intends to keep playing for the grand cash prize, offering encouragement to others: “Never get discouraged, because one day it will come for both you and me.”
Founded in 1992 with an initial grand prize of Dh1 million, the Big Ticket has grown into one of the UAE's most prominent monthly raffles, altering the lives of numerous participants across the Emirates and beyond. Tickets for the Big Ticket Millionaire are priced at Dh500 ($136) and can be purchased online or at retail counters located at Zayed International and Al Ain airports.
