President Donald Trump plans to use the luxury Boeing 747-8 jetliner gifted by Qatar for his upcoming trip to Ireland later this month, according to a senior White House official. This decision comes just two months after he flew the aircraft to Turkey and subsequently departed on an alternate plane due to security apprehensions.

Sources familiar with the matter previously reported that the $400 million unconditional gift lacked the identical safety capabilities of the older Air Force One in dangerous international environments, although another source claimed it shared many similar features. Following the Turkey journey, President Donald Trump noted in late July that the aircraft's missile-defense capabilities would soon be "maxed out." In the Oval Office on Friday, he reiterated that while the plane is already well-equipped, further upgrades will take approximately 60 days.

The aircraft has been utilized for domestic travel throughout the summer. While the senior White House official stated that the plane is secure for non-hostile international travel such as Ireland, it is scheduled to undergo upgrades in October and will eventually be housed in a presidential museum at the conclusion of the term. President Donald Trump, who initially unveiled the aircraft at Joint Base Andrews as "the world's most luxurious plane," has reportedly seethed privately over media coverage highlighting its deficiencies.
