Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi is expanding significantly on Yas Island by adding three iconic Harry Potter-themed lands: Diagon Alley, Hogwarts, and the Forbidden Forest. Spanning approximately 63,000 square metres and slated for completion in 2029, the expansion will feature exclusive rides designed specifically for Abu Dhabi, though specific attractions and experiences are still under wraps.

Each location holds a specific place in the beloved series. Diagon Alley serves as the introduction to the wizarding world's shops, wands, and Gringotts Bank. Hogwarts is the central school setting, while the Forbidden Forest is inhabited by mythical creatures such as centaurs, giant spiders, unicorns, and thestrals. For Emirati Harry Potter fan and content creator Nasser Al Maskri, the development is a monumental milestone. "Harry Potter is the most prominent piece of my childhood because it crafted my love of storytelling and film from a very young age," Al Maskri says. "Seeing that world come to life here in Abu Dhabi is a dream come true for us Potterheads in the UAE."

While official details on the rides remain unannounced, the source books provide heavy hints about potential features. In Diagon Alley, visitors could experience wand-choosing, school robes, and wizarding supplies at shops reminiscent of Ollivanders, Madam Malkin's, Flourish and Blotts, and Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. The Leaky Cauldron could offer themed food and drink, while Gringotts Bank might inspire underground cart rides similar to those found at Universal Orlando.

Hogwarts offers boundless design inspiration, from dormitories and house common rooms to the Great Hall with its floating candles and enchanted ceiling. The Sorting Hat provides a natural interactive element for assigning guests to houses, while lessons, spellcasting, moving staircases, and talking portraits could enhance the castle exploration. Additionally, Quidditch could inspire a high-speed broomstick ride based on the sport.

The Forbidden Forest sets the stage for a more atmospheric or darker attraction, drawing from encounters with Aragog's descendants, unicorns, and thestrals, much like Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando. Furthermore, Arthur Weasley's flying Ford Anglia features prominently in promotional materials for the Yas Island project, hinting at a potential roller coaster or flight-inspired ride capturing its daring journeys to Hogwarts and escapes through the woods. For now, fans must await future reveals as construction on the ambitious project continues.
