Outlining the scope during a high-level meeting, he explained that the first phase encompasses Tahrir Square, the second phase stretches from Talaat Harb Square to Mostafa Kamel Square, the third phase covers the section from Opera Square to Talaat Harb Square, and the fourth phase includes Qasr El-Nil Street between Mostafa Kamel and Opera Squares.
Additionally, Ibrahim Saber indicated that the initiative involves developing the segment of 26th of July Street leading up to Opera Square, alongside finishing ongoing work on Talaat Harb Street up to 26th of July Street. The plans were reviewed during a joint meeting chaired by the Presidential Advisor for Local Development and Chairman of the National Committee for the Protection and Development of Historic Cairo, Khaled Fouda, and the Cairo Governor to monitor implementation progress.
Ibrahim Saber emphasized that all work is being executed in full cooperation with the National Organization for Urban Harmony. He urged authorities to formulate a definitive timeline for downtown real estate enhancement, asset optimization, and heritage preservation in collaboration with civil society organizations and local residents. Regular cultural and artistic events are also planned to invigorate the district's urban landscape.
Furthermore, Khaled Fouda stressed the importance of strict schedule adherence, noting that the project entails restoring heritage facades, upgrading infrastructure, improving lighting, and revitalizing historic structures. The overarching objective is to reinstate Khedival Cairo as a premier cultural, tourist, and historical hub.
