Sharjah Police successfully arrested two suspects accused of stealing amber prayer beads valued at more than $100,000 (Dh367,000) and recovered all stolen goods within 24 hours of receiving the report.
The incident began when a Chinese citizen advertised the items for sale on social media. Two individuals expressed interest in purchasing the entire collection and arranged an in-person inspection. The suspects then lured the victim to a location in Sharjah, took the goods by deception, and fled the scene.
Brig Dr Khalifa Belhaj, director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate at Sharjah Police, stated that specialised teams launched immediate search and investigative operations following the report. By collecting evidence, examining forensic material, and analysing data, the investigation successfully identified the suspects and tracked their movements to a neighbouring emirate.
Working in close cooperation with local security authorities, the teams located and arrested the suspects, recovering the entirety of the stolen property in under 24 hours. Sharjah Police emphasized that the rapid resolution highlights the efficiency and high readiness of their security teams, alongside their effective application of modern technology and data analysis.
In light of the incident, authorities strongly urged the public to exercise caution when conducting transactions through social media, verify identities, and use safe, official locations when meeting unknown individuals.
