The Bahrain International Airshow has been cancelled for this year, with organizers pushing the biennial gathering back to 2028 as the Iran war continues to rage.
Initially planned for November 18-20 at Sakhir Air Base, the eighth edition of the event has now been rescheduled for November 15-17, 2028. Organizers stated that the decision was made "following careful consideration and continuing discussions with our stakeholders, partners and international companies in the region and around the world," adding that it aims to ensure participants can fully engage with the Bahrain International Airshow experience.
Entering its seventh month, the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran has plunged the region into a severe geopolitical crisis. Sectors such as hospitality, aviation, and tourism have suffered heavily as Iran targets industrial, energy, and civilian infrastructure throughout the Gulf region. Despite mediated negotiations, peace talks between the US and Iran remain unresolved.
Bahrain itself has endured numerous assaults, reporting over 800 attacks since February 28, including recent missile strikes. These security concerns have severely disrupted the country's aviation sector, forcing international carriers to alter schedules due to regional airspace restrictions and operational uncertainty. Notably, Emirates recently resumed flights between Dubai and Bahrain on August 15 following a prolonged period of cancellations.
