Nearly three decades after its initial 1998 release, the film Practical Magic is officially getting a sequel. Although the original movie was initially a box office disappointment and panned by critics, it was truly ahead of its time by exploring vital themes such as sisterhood, female empowerment, and surviving abuse. Over the years, the feature developed a massive cult following, paving the way for this upcoming continuation.
The original story focused on witch sisters Sally Owens and Gillian Owens, famously portrayed by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman respectively. In the narrative, the characters deal with a family curse where any man they fall in love with is doomed to die.
For the new installment, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman will reprise their iconic roles. They will be joined by a fresh ensemble cast featuring Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Mariduena, and Solly McLeod. Behind the camera, the movie will be directed by Susanne Bier, known for her work on the filmmaker project Bird Box.
