Sharjah announced on Friday the passing of Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, prompting the emirate to declare a three-day period of mourning. The deceased was the brother of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, as well as Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Qasimi.
Funeral prayers are scheduled to take place following Asr prayers on Friday at King Faisal Mosque in Sharjah, with the burial to follow at Al Jubail cemetery.
Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to President Sheikh Mohamed, paid tribute to his lifelong companion, fondly remembering their shared childhood and school days growing up as neighbors in Deira. The two attended Al Ahmadiya School, forging a bond that Dr Gargash noted endured throughout their lives.
In an official statement, the Diwan of Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and the broader Al Qasimi family.
Condolences for men will be accepted starting Saturday for three days at the residence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, located in Al Badee. Mourning hours will be held from 9am until Dhuhr prayers in the morning, and from Asr prayers until Maghrib prayers in the evening. Meanwhile, condolences for women will be received at the residence of Sheikh Mohammed in Al Tarfaana, Sharjah.
