Major Abu Dhabi companies including Adnoc, XRG, and Masdar have announced a series of strategic agreements projected to generate more than €5 billion in investments across Germany’s energy and industrial sectors. These pacts were formalized during the state visit of President Sheikh Mohamed to Germany, a landmark trip highlighting a broader €40 billion investment commitment by the UAE into Europe's largest economy.

The newly unveiled partnerships involve prominent German firms such as RWE, Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE), MB Energy, Covestro, Siemens Energy, Siemens Industrial, and Bosch Middle East. The collaborations span critical areas including liquefied natural gas (LNG), traditional gas supplies, renewable energy, advanced materials, and technology.

Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and managing director and group chief executive of Adnoc, emphasized the enduring ties between the two nations, noting that these latest agreements reinforce ongoing efforts to foster long-term economic growth and mutual prosperity.

Alongside these commercial agreements, the UAE-Germany Investment Council was launched to connect government entities, capital, and corporations to streamline investment opportunities and accelerate growth in key sectors.

Key highlights of the agreements include:

  • Adnoc and RWE: An agreement to supply LNG to Germany, Europe, and Asian markets, facilitated by Adnoc and its international investment arm XRG, starting in the early next decade.
  • Ta'ziz and Covestro: A letter of intent signed by the Abu Dhabi joint venture and the German chemicals company to advance a new facility in Ruwais, targeting production post-2030.
  • Adnoc and SEFE: A framework to assess cooperation in gas supply, infrastructure, and logistics to bolster European energy security.
  • Fertiglobe, Covestro, and MB Energy: A partnership to investigate the development of low-carbon ammonia supply chains directed into Germany.
  • Masdar and RWE / Luxcara: Agreements focusing on joint participation in upcoming German offshore wind auctions, alongside broader European investments in offshore wind and battery storage.
  • Adnoc, Bosch Middle East, Siemens Energy, and Siemens Industrial: Pacts aimed at exploring joint initiatives in advanced technology and artificial intelligence.
