Lisandro Martinez Celebrates First Manchester United Goal, Praises Leny Yoro, and Looks Ahead to Manchester Derby

Lisandro Martinez, 28, recently secured his first Manchester United goal at Old Trafford during a 4-0 Champions League triumph against Sabah of Azerbaijan. After overcoming a severe cruciate injury to make his comeback last November, the Argentinian defender regained full fitness under interim manager Michael Carrick, forming a reliable central defensive partnership with Harry Maguire.

Following Thursday's match and ahead of Sunday's upcoming Manchester derby at Old Trafford, Martinez reflected on his performance and the team's readiness. Discussing his milestone goal, the defender emphasized that securing the three points and maintaining a clean sheet remains his top priority.

Addressing the team's defensive record earlier in the season, Martinez acknowledged responsibility for past conceded goals and stressed the importance of building upon the defensive solidity shown against Sabah. When asked about facing Manchester City's Erling Haaland once again, he noted that past encounters are behind them and the focus is entirely on the new challenge.

Martinez also offered high praise for defensive partner Leny Yoro, describing his performance as amazing and highlighting the youngster's composure in one-on-one situations as crucial for the future of Manchester United. Looking forward to the demanding schedule of playing every few days across multiple competitions, Martinez stated that the squad is fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
