Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa has emphasized the Egyptian government's strong commitment to expanding cooperation with Thailand across multiple sectors, including the economic, industrial, educational, and cultural fields. He highlighted that attracting foreign investment remains a top national priority, supported by enhanced business competitiveness and attractive incentives designed to facilitate investor growth.

This announcement came during a high-level meeting on Sunday, September 13, 2026, where Deputy Prime Minister and Second Deputy Speaker of the Thai House of Representatives Lertsak Pattanachaikul met with Hussein Issa and an accompanying delegation. The discussions were also attended by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Counselor Hany Hanna, Thai Ambassador to Cairo Thanawat Sirikul, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Amr Hamza.

Talks centered on strengthening Egyptian-Thai relations and broadening bilateral collaboration across parliamentary, economic, investment, and educational domains, alongside identifying effective strategies to boost trade volumes and foster Thai investments. Welcoming the delegation, Hussein Issa praised the steady momentum of bilateral ties grounded in historical friendship and expressed Cairo's readiness to further develop these relations.

Hussein Issa detailed Egypt's strategic advantages, emphasizing its position as an export hub connecting Arab, African, and global markets, supported by various free trade agreements and modern infrastructure in transport and energy. He encouraged Thai enterprises to explore local market opportunities in key industries, assuring them of the government's full support for their expansion and trade enhancement.

In response, Lertsak Pattanachaikul reiterated Thailand's dedication to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, education, and parliamentary affairs. He noted that Thai corporations are keen to expand operations in Egypt to capitalize on strong market potential and drive trade growth. Furthermore, he thanked Egypt for its continued support of Thai students and emphasized that high-level diplomatic visits and direct air links are vital for boosting tourism, commerce, and cultural exchange. Both delegations concluded the meeting by committing to build upon this positive momentum to advance shared economic and strategic objectives.
