A senior adviser to US President Donald Trump stated in Dubai on Tuesday that there is "no future" for Sudan's two warring generals within the nation's political leadership, signaling Washington's firm backing for a swift transition to civilian rule.

Speaking at the Arab Media Summit, Massad Boulos, serving as Mr Trump’s senior adviser on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs, emphasized that the US supports a political process that completely excludes army chief Gen Abdel Fattah Al Burhan and Rapid Support Forces commander Gen Mohamed Dagalo.

"There is no future for any of the two leaders in the country," Mr Boulos stated. "We see a future in the civilian transition. It needs to happen quickly and seamlessly, away from the two warring generals. We support this track only."

According to Mr Boulos, Mr Trump has been "very clear" regarding Sudan, reiterating that resolving the ongoing humanitarian crisis is a primary US objective. He added that Washington remains dedicated to the roadmap formulated alongside its allies to halt the conflict, even though the initiative has not yielded tangible outcomes a year following its launch.

"We all bear the responsibility that it has not borne fruit yet," Mr Boulos remarked. "If we want real results on the ground for the benefit of the Sudanese, our roadmap needs to be put into effect."
