Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Tuesday that Poland is bolstering security at its border with Ukraine after recent Russian drone strikes near border crossings heightened concerns among NATO allies. Kosiniak-Kamysz stated on X that the infrastructure used by the Border Guard is being strengthened to address actions that threaten the security of all of Europe, noting that soldiers of the 18th Engineer Regiment are actively reinforcing checkpoints and infrastructure.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed two strikes near the Polish border, alleging the targeted train was transporting military cargo. Meanwhile, Lithuanian military officials reported that a drone equipped with an explosive device was shot down in Lithuanian airspace for the first time, with Italy’s defense minister, Guido Crosetto, confirming that an Italian NATO fighter jet intercepted the device and noting it most probably came from Russia.

In a separate incident, the Danish Armed Forces stated that a Danish military helicopter was targeted by a Russian warship in international waters on Monday. Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha condemned the actions, while NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte described the strikes close to NATO territory as a reflection of Russian President Vladimir Putin's desperation.

Concurrently, diplomatic efforts led by the United States are underway to address energy infrastructure attacks, though statements from US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Kremlin varied on the status of a proposed mutual halt to strikes on critical infrastructure.
