Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, announced that the "Kom Maria" project has transformed from a long-held dream for the residents of Mallawi into a tangible reality.

Speaking at the inauguration of the first phase of the Kom Maria project in Mallawi, Minya—a key location along Egypt's Holy Family Trail—he emphasized that the initiative is a vital addition to the governorate, boosting a trail renowned for its profound religious, historical, and cultural significance.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Minya Governor Emad Kedwani and Bishop Demetrius, Bishop of the Diocese of Mallawi and Ansina. During the event, Pope Tawadros expressed his appreciation to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for embodying the values of citizenship and serving as a leader for all Egyptians.

In his remarks, Governor Kedwani commended the national and community contributions of the Egyptian Church under the leadership of Pope Tawadros II, highlighting its role as an active partner in regional development, particularly within the healthcare sector.

Kedwani pointed out that church-run institutions continue to bolster the governorate's healthcare infrastructure through three prominent facilities: Misr Al-Mahabba Hospital in Beni Mazar, Al-Ragaa Hospital in Abu Qurqas, and Al-Raai Al-Saleh Hospital in Samalout. These three hospitals have already received accreditation as they prepare to integrate into the Universal Health Insurance System.
