Nearly three decades after her death, Princess Diana continues to captivate public interest, most recently through the upcoming three-part documentary series titled “Diana Unheard”. This new project showcases previously unreleased audio recordings of the late royal.

Global distribution rights for the series have been secured by Cineflix Rights from the independent British production company Love Monday TV, renowned for producing royal programs for ITV and Channel 5. The series features “the People’s Princess” sharing her own perspectives on her life, personal relationships, and the royal family.

Producers obtained access to confidential conversations recorded in 1991 between Diana and her close friend, Dr. James Colthurst. These tapes were originally utilized as the primary source for Andrew Morton’s groundbreaking biography, “Diana: Her True Story”. Both Dr. James Colthurst and Andrew Morton make appearances in the documentary alongside the audio tracks of Diana, where she speaks about Prince Charles, Camilla, and Prince Andrew.

In an interview with Deadline, Kieran Barfield, Creative Director at Love Monday TV, shared: “With this series, we wanted to challenge the long-standing narrative depicting Diana, Princess of Wales, merely as a victim of her circumstances. Here, we do not see Diana as a passive victim of events, but as a woman taking control of her own narrative and risking everything to make her voice heard.”

“Diana Unheard” is scheduled to premiere at the MIPCOM trade market in Cannes, France, nearly 30 years after the Princess tragically passed away in a Paris car crash in August 1997 at the age of 36. This debut arrives during a period of public tension between Buckingham Palace and Earl Spencer regarding his new memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister”, which explores his sister’s life and death.
