Dubai Police have successfully apprehended three suspects involved in the theft of Dh190,000 ($51,735), with e-scooter patrols managing to recover the entire stolen sum within minutes.

The command-and-control centre at the General Department of Operations received a report regarding the theft in the Naif area and promptly transmitted suspect descriptions to nearby units. According to the force, e-scooter officers from the Naif Police Station arrived at the location within two minutes and successfully recovered the full amount just two minutes later.

Brig Omar Mousa Ashour, director of Naif Police Station, stated that the rapid arrests and money recovery highlighted the high efficiency of these patrols in the city. The station oversees patrol deployment to guarantee rapid response times and maintain a visible security presence in crowded zones.

Explaining the tactics, Brig Ashour noted that officers utilize e-scooters to navigate swiftly through heavy pedestrian traffic and congested areas. These vehicles also enable officers to access narrow alleyways where standard patrol cars cannot enter. He further noted that Naif Police Station remains committed to advancing its field operations to boost response speed and security effectiveness.

Earlier in May, Dubai authorities introduced a specialized patrol division known as the Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit. Established through a partnership between Dubai Police and the city's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the unit ensures that bicycle and e-scooter operators comply with local traffic regulations. Its duties include tracking unsafe riding habits, enforcing safety gear requirements, and ensuring adherence to speed limits while curbing reckless behavior and tandem riding.

Following these initiatives, the force has increasingly integrated e-scooters into its strategy for patrolling high-traffic urban areas.
