Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Hind Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, emphasized that Doha's diplomatic interventions extend far beyond securing initial ceasefires to guarantee enduring solutions. Speaking in an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Saturday, Al-Muftah explained that Qatar's mediation framework focuses on narrowing the gap between opposing factions and fostering a conducive environment for dialogue, while leaving final decisions to the respective parties.

Highlighting the complexities of post-agreement phases, Al-Muftah noted that reaching a truce is merely the beginning. Ensuring compliance, rebuilding trust, and mitigating the socio-economic and humanitarian fallout of conflicts remain critical challenges. She stressed that the longevity of any settlement relies heavily on the commitment of the involved parties, coupled with robust international and regional support to target the root causes of instability.

Al-Muftah also drew attention to the synergy between Qatar’s diplomatic endeavors and its humanitarian commitments, asserting that political and humanitarian tracks are deeply intertwined. By coordinating closely with organizations like the United Nations, Qatar aims to facilitate civilian protection, enhance humanitarian access, and bolster long-term recovery efforts.

Detailing Qatar's humanitarian footprint, Al-Muftah highlighted that contributions to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) have surpassed $440 million (over QAR 1.6 billion) since cooperation began in the 1990s. This funding has supported refugees, internally displaced persons, and host communities globally through key partners such as Qatar Foundation, Education Above All, Qatar Charity, Qatar Red Crescent Society, Qatar Airways, Silatech, and the Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani Humanitarian Fund. Following their first high-level strategic dialogue in Geneva in May 2025, Qatar intends to further expand this partnership alongside the Qatar Fund for Development to address escalating global humanitarian needs.
