Pope Tawadros II, the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church, officially laid the foundation stone for the Patriarchs’ Cathedral located in Al Fashn, Beni Suef governorate.

During the ceremony, the Pope emphasized that the state continues to advance along its development path through the united efforts of its institutions, with every party fulfilling its duty to serve society. He underscored that nations are fundamentally built on love, belonging, and collaborative action.

Addressing attendees during his visit to Beni Suef governorate, Pope Tawadros explained that the new cathedral serves as more than just a house of worship. He described it as a center for nurturing responsible citizens who deeply value their homeland and the principles of citizenship.

Furthermore, he highlighted the deep symbolic meaning behind the construction, asserting that true societal development relies on building the individual rather than solely focusing on physical infrastructure such as facilities, roads, and buildings.
