According to state media reports from Al Jazeera, powerful explosions at a weapons depot in northern Syria have left at least four people injured, prompting urgent warnings for the public to maintain distance from the area.
The state-run SANA news agency reported that the blasts took place early on Monday at a Syrian army site located near the town of al-Eis, situated south of the city of Aleppo. The exact cause of the explosions remains undetermined at this time.
Faisal Mohammad Ali, who serves as the head of civil defence operations in Aleppo, informed SANA that rescue teams have successfully evacuated four injured individuals from the location. However, he noted that ongoing explosions continue to hinder emergency services from accessing the site, leading to a direct plea for civilians to steer clear of the zone.
In response to the incident, Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib advised residents to remain inside their homes temporarily and confirmed that hospitals, ambulance, and emergency teams are currently operating on full alert.
Additionally, Aleppo’s Internal Security Command announced that roads leading directly to the explosion site have been closed in order to guarantee the safety of civilians. Further updates are expected soon.
