Dubai's paid parking provider, Parkin, has officially commenced operations at Rashid Hospital following a new agreement with Dubai Health. This initiative marks the launch of a smart parking system, representing the first phase of implementing a paid parking structure across Dubai Health facilities in the emirate.
According to a statement released by Parkin on Monday, patients will continue to receive free parking for the entire duration of their visits. This exemption applies to patients receiving emergency care, attending consultations or laboratory appointments, accessing walk-in services, or undergoing ongoing treatment.
Osama Alsafi, chief operating officer of Parkin, stated, "Medical facilities require exceptional reliability and ease of access, and by deploying Parkin’s state-of-the-art parking management technology at Dubai Health facilities, we aim to reduce congestion, optimise space utilisation and enhance the arrival experience, while keeping patients at the centre of the service."
Additional parking privileges have been established for specific visitors. Two companions of admitted patients will receive free parking for 24 hours, with extensions available if necessary. Furthermore, general visitors can obtain up to three hours of free parking by providing the requisite details at the hospital reception. Pregnant women, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities will be granted free valet parking after their eligibility is verified.
For individuals not visiting Dubai Health facilities, standard parking fees will apply, complemented by a 30-minute daily grace period to accommodate pickups and drop-offs.
Parkin, established by the Dubai government in January 2024, has actively expanded its operations beyond the emirate recently. The company increased its parking spaces by 27 per cent year-on-year and currently manages 268,300 paid parking spaces across Dubai. Its broader expansion includes partnerships with Arada in Sharjah, Damac Properties, and operations reaching Reem Island in Abu Dhabi.
In April 2025, Parkin implemented variable parking tariffs, raising hourly fees in standard zones from Dh2 during non-peak hours to Dh4 during peak hours between 8am and 10am and 4pm and 8pm. Parking remains chargeable in Dubai from 8am to 10pm, with most areas offering free parking on Sundays and public holidays.
