Qatar's Nasser Al-Attiyah has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a shooting gold medal at the Asian Games just months after claiming victory at the Dakar Rally. Competing in Nagoya, Japan, the 55-year-old athlete helped the Qatar men's skeet team capture the top podium spot on Wednesday, finishing ahead of the teams from Kuwait and India.
This latest victory marks his third Asian Games gold medal, following previous triumphs in 2002 and 2010, and brings his total career medal count at the Games to six. Furthermore, Al-Attiyah previously earned a skeet bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
The shooting success complements his illustrious motorsport career, which most recently includes capturing his sixth Dakar Rally title. Driving a Dacia alongside Belgian codriver Fabian Lurquin, he secured the win earlier this year by maintaining his lead through the final day, having previously brought his career tally of stage wins to 50.
