The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has announced upcoming weather fluctuations and chances of rainfall across several governorates as autumn begins. According to weather maps, unstable conditions will start in northern regions, stretching from the Mediterranean coast to parts of the Nile Delta. Although relatively hot and humid conditions persist, cold air currents in the upper atmosphere will collide with warm, humid air to create a brief period of instability. Temperatures are expected to drop noticeably starting Friday and Saturday once this system passes.
Scattered thunderclouds are forecasted to form early Thursday morning over the northwestern coast, stretching from Matrouh to Alexandria. By the afternoon, convective thunderclouds will expand over Delta governorates including Beheira, Monufiya, Sharqiya, Gharbiya, and Daqahliya, alongside Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, and Port Said.
Outlining the forecast for the three-month autumn season starting Wednesday, Mahmoud Shaheen, Director-General of the Forecasting and Early Warning Center at the EMA, informed Al-Masry Al-Youm that rapid shifts in atmospheric pressure will drive weather fluctuations. Light to moderate rainfall is anticipated, with thunderclouds potentially reaching Greater Cairo, while seasonal forecasts suggest rainfall amounts and temperatures may slightly exceed average climatic norms.
