A tragic shooting incident at a high school in the southern Philippine city of Zamboanga has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, a local official has confirmed.
Speaking to DZMM radio on Tuesday, Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso stated that both casualties were students, and one of them was the gunman. Regional police spokesperson Shellamie Chang reported that police forces were actively working to secure the school campus, though further details were not immediately available.
According to witnesses at the scene, the incident took place at Ateneo de Zamboanga high school. Journalists reporting from the location indicated that the suspect was a Grade 7 student who opened fire inside a classroom.
