The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced that the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), situated in Old Cairo, will raise ticket prices for its exhibition halls and restoration laboratories beginning April 1st.
This decision was officially approved during a Sunday, September 20 meeting of the museum's board of directors, which was led by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy. While the exact new fee amounts have not yet been finalized, current admission costs stand at LE 90 for Egyptian visitors, LE 45 for Egyptian students, LE 550 for foreign visitors, and LE 300 for foreign students, with children under six receiving free entry.
Additionally, the board of directors approved the code of conduct and booking protocols for school visits utilizing the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ Rehla Portal. Introduced in November 2025, this portal allows schools to reserve free online visits to 112 archaeological sites and museums across Egypt to help foster student awareness of the nation's rich archaeological and cultural heritage.
Since opening in 2021, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) has established itself as one of the country's most prominent cultural institutions. It currently preserves over 6,000 artifacts spanning multiple eras of Egyptian history, and bulk-purchased tickets will remain valid for three months from the original date of purchase.
