Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stated on Monday, August 17, 2026, that Egypt’s foreign policy is guided by a balanced vision that prioritizes national security and the nation's core interests amid ongoing regional and international crises.
Abdelatty delivered these remarks during a gathering with heads of Egyptian diplomatic missions abroad, which included newly appointed ambassadors, ministry officials, and sector heads. The session aimed to bolster institutional ties with missions overseas, evaluate foreign policy objectives, assess embassy and consulate performance, and enhance consular services for Egyptian communities abroad.
Emphasizing the vital role of diplomatic missions, Abdelatty noted their importance in executing foreign policy and defending national interests. He outlined ongoing modernization efforts within the ministry to restructure workflows, boost efficiency, and upgrade training programs for diplomatic and administrative personnel.
The Foreign Minister also stressed the economic responsibilities of diplomatic missions, urging efforts to attract foreign investment, expand export markets, and promote Egypt's investment opportunities. He highlighted state initiatives to improve the business climate and empower the private sector.
Furthermore, Abdelatty discussed regional and international priorities, calling for enhanced coordination with host countries to safeguard development gains. He reiterated that improving consular services and leveraging digital solutions for Egyptian citizens abroad remain top priorities for the ministry.
