Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has offered a strong message of backing for his former club and their loyal supporters.
On Tuesday, the Premier League announced that an independent commission concluded that City were guilty of all charges concerning breaches of financial regulations spanning from 2009 to 2018, alongside allegations that the club failed to cooperate with the extensive investigation. In response, Manchester City issued a statement declaring that they are "innocent of the accusations made" and expressed that they were "disappointed and surprised" by the ruling.
Guardiola concluded his successful 10-year tenure as City manager at the conclusion of last season, a period marked by 17 major trophies, which included six Premier League titles and a Uefa Champions League victory. He was succeeded by his former assistant, Enzo Maresca, who has had an impressive beginning to his reign by securing victories in all seven opening matches across all competitions. Currently, City sit at the summit of the Premier League table, holding a three-point lead over defending champions Arsenal.
In his initial public comments since the independent panel published its conclusions, Guardiola expressed unwavering support for the organization and its fans. Taking to social media, he stated: “I want every single Man City fan to know I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran [Soriano], the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters. Let me be clear: we will get through this together.” He added, “I love you all.”
The published post also featured photographs of Guardiola alongside club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, alongside images of the Catalan manager holding the Champions League trophy and celebrating the 2023 Premier League title win.
