Cristiano Ronaldo has departed Portugal's international training camp ahead of their upcoming match against Denmark, promising to explain his actions "in time." Portuguese newspaper A Bola released footage showing Ronaldo exiting Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium in a Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) vehicle. According to A Bola, his exit followed statements from coach Jorge Jesus, who had indicated the 41-year-old would participate in the training session. Meanwhile, Spanish publication Marca reported that Ronaldo planned to catch a private flight to Madrid.

The FPF later issued a statement confirming his departure, noting that preparations for the fixtures against Denmark and Norway would proceed as planned with the remaining 24 squad members. The statement emphasized that the delegation remains fully focused on the national team's upcoming matches and objectives.

Ronaldo was left on the bench during Portugal's 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway on Sunday after coach Jorge Jesus decided against bringing him on. Following this, he trained in the gym rather than with the team on Monday and Tuesday despite being uninjured, fueling speculation of a disagreement with the manager. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner later addressed his followers on Instagram to announce his exit, stating he spoke with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation and would eventually share the truth about his reasons for leaving with the Portuguese people.

Reports of tension between Jesus and Ronaldo arrive just months after the pair secured the Saudi Pro League title with Al Nassr. Speaking prior to Wednesday's session, Jorge Jesus strongly denied any rift, urging reporters to avoid manufacturing controversy and insisting Ronaldo had never refused to train.

FPF president Pedro Proenca traveled to Copenhagen to meet with both Jesus and Ronaldo ahead of the Thursday fixture. Ronaldo holds the record as Portugal’s top scorer with 146 goals and is their most-capped player with 234 appearances, while continuing his pursuit of 1,000 career goals.
