Motorists in Dubai are advised to plan their journeys ahead of time following the announcement of rolling road closures for an 80-kilometre cycling race taking place on Sunday morning.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), delays are anticipated during the Proud of UAE event, which commences at 6am from Nad Al Sheba Police Station. Traffic will be temporarily suspended for 10 to 30 minutes along Al Ain-Dubai Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Ras Al Khor Road, and Al Meydan Road as participants make their way through the course.
The RTA confirmed via social media that each section of the route will reopen immediately after all cyclists have cleared the area. The traffic disruptions are scheduled to last from 6am until 8.30am.
"Plan your trip in advance and follow the directional signs to ensure smooth and comfortable travel," the RTA stated on the social media platform X.
Organised by Dubai Police, the second annual race brings together professional and amateur riders, temporarily transforming major parts of the emirate into an expansive cycling track.
