The legendary production of The Phantom of the Opera is officially heading to Abu Dhabi for an anticipated three-week run at Etihad Arena. Running from March 10 to 28 next year across 13 scheduled dates, the Andrew Lloyd Webber masterpiece will offer audiences weekend matinee and evening performances on Saturdays and Sundays.
Etihad Arena initially sparked excitement on Tuesday by teasing the arrival on social media with a cryptic video and the caption: “09.10.26. Stay tuned, Abu Dhabi.” However, pre-sale emails confirmed the identity of the show, with ticket prices starting at Dh240.
The Abu Dhabi engagement coincides with the milestone 40th anniversary of the musical's world premiere at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End on October 9, 1986. Adapted from Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel, the story follows a masked musical genius haunting the Paris Opera House who falls hopelessly in love with the young soprano Christine Daae.
Featuring timeless compositions by Andrew Lloyd Webber such as The Music of the Night and All I Ask of You, the production holds a historic legacy, including a record-breaking Broadway run of nearly 14,000 performances before closing in April 2023. Further updates regarding casting and general ticket sales are slated for an official announcement on Friday.
