Kyiv’s mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the fatalities occurred in the densely populated Darnytskyi neighbourhood due to a fire sparked by the overnight bombardment. Writing on Telegram on Wednesday, he noted that two people were successfully rescued during firefighting efforts, while the bodies of two victims were subsequently discovered.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defence stated that its military executed a "massive strike" targeting locations in Kyiv and additional Ukrainian regions. According to the ministry, strikes also impacted port facilities situated in the Odesa region along with maritime vessels supporting the Ukrainian armed forces.
Kyiv has faced continuous bombardment throughout recent weeks, with relentless Russian air assaults targeting energy grids, rail networks, and road infrastructure, which includes critical bridges spanning the Dnipro River. Consequently, air raid sirens have blared almost incessantly day and night, forcing residents to seek immediate refuge in basements, shelters, and subway stations.
