Yemen's internationally recognised government has accused the Houthis of launching ballistic missiles and drones at Aden International Airport, narrowly avoiding a potential civilian disaster. According to the Ministry of Transport, at least two ballistic missiles and several drones targeted the runway and passenger terminal on Wednesday.

One missile landed near the runway just minutes before a scheduled flight from Cairo was due to land. The flight was subsequently cancelled and diverted to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to ensure passenger safety. Airport authorities swiftly evacuated the terminal and cleared two planes from the tarmac.

Aden airport serves as the primary international gateway for regions under government control. Meanwhile, the Houthis claimed they targeted Saudi military supplies at the Badr camp near the airport.

In a separate incident, the Saudi-led military coalition intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile north of Riyadh. Major-General Turki al-Maliki stated that the coalition tracked the launch platform over Sanaa and vowed to destroy it. These escalations coincide with intensified fighting in Yemen's southwestern province of Taiz, where government forces have launched a counteroffensive around Mocha and the Bab al-Mandeb strait. Additionally, Pakistan and Turkiye recently agreed to activate deterrence measures under a mutual defence pact with Saudi Arabia.
