UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Directs Nationwide Rain Prayers for This Friday

President Sheikh Mohamed has called upon worshippers across the UAE to perform rain prayers in all mosques this coming Friday. The traditional Salaat Al Istisqaa will take place half an hour before the regular Friday prayers, following the traditions of the Prophet Mohammed.

The President urged everyone to seek divine mercy and rainfall as dry conditions persist in many areas despite scattered showers. This vital ritual aims to support agriculture, aid farmers in cultivating healthy crops, and replenish crucial groundwater reserves in a nation that typically receives around 150mm of annual rainfall.

During Salaat Al Istisqaa, congregants gather facing the qibla to perform two rak'ahs led by an imam, offering supplications for forgiveness and rain. Following the prayer, the imam delivers a sermon emphasizing the significance of rainfall for agriculture and water security.
